A Word to the Wiser (than we are)

On the day Amazon in UK announced it will stop letting people use Visa credit cards, we were getting a different phone up-and-running. Never been a problem before. It's been impossible to download free antivirus/anything from GooglePlay (wrong or different account?). Like many folks, we lost a chunk of passwords. It announced we had one phone without a screen PIN - how would it know? Signing into this Blogger was nigh impossible, no matter how many times we'd signed out first. It will be a case of what works, does. And...

Won't get into the day we got a new laptop that demanded our Microsoft ID to get it to work, which took some doing. And because one Bank would not accept our perfectly good, older laptop, we resorted to banking apps. Subsequently both Banks (the same day) required an update, or No-Go. Nearest town for Banks now is a half-hour bus trip. Some are forced to use the automatic machines inside. No staff help there then; how will they sort out the mess? No new chequebooks are automatically sent out. Watch that you get a replacement debit card if yours is running out, or that will a rigmarole when your online banking gets blocked!

If people face more issues doing the necessary things they managed before, plus new ones that get imposed, the more squeezing-out, frustrations, and less help available. Not everyone is computer literate and, as time goes by, nor will it prove easy to replace technology to mesh with every other bit. For many people reaching pensionable age 6 months ago, they have not yet received any state pension. A nightmare for some, and for the DWP. What happened to their computer, or why were other measures not brought in?
